Josh Cardiello, a former Buford High School football lineman and a cherished member of his community, has died at the age of 30. His death has left family, friends and former teammates mourning the loss of a man remembered for his strength, loyalty and generosity of spirit. Mr Cardiello was a standout athlete during his time at Buford High School, where he played as a lineman and earned respect for his work ethic and team-first attitude. Those who played alongside him said he embodied the values of commitment and resilience, qualities that continued to define him long after his playing days ended.

Beyond sport, Mr Cardiello was described as a devoted partner, father and friend. Those closest to him spoke of his deep love for his family and his determination to build a secure and happy future for his daughter, Amelia. Friends said he was someone others leaned on in difficult moments, always ready to listen or help without hesitation. His death occurred early on Monday morning, when he was pronounced dead in hospital. Tributes from loved ones have conveyed shock and disbelief, as well as gratitude for the support shown by the wider community in the days since.

Mr Cardiello was also involved with the organisation Who We Play For, a cause that held personal significance for him following the death of his brother, Jake. The organisation advocates for heart screenings and improved access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs), efforts that friends say reflected his desire to protect others from similar loss. News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from former teammates, coaches and community members, many of whom recalled his kindness, humour and quiet strength.

Funeral services for Mr Cardiello will be held at First Baptist Church in Buford later this week, with visitation on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, followed by a service on Saturday. Josh Cardiello is survived by his family, his daughter and a wide circle of friends. He will be remembered not only as an athlete, but as a loving father, loyal friend and a man whose life, though cut short, left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Condolences

On Monday morning at 6:25 a.m., I held my best friend’s hand while an ER doctor called his time of death. I’m still in shock—numb, sad, angry, and in disbelief that this is all real. Losing Josh has been the hardest thing I’ve ever been through, and all I can think about is what Amelia’s future will look like. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, brought food, helped in any way, or kept us in your thoughts and prayers. I need them more than ever right now. Josh’s funeral services will be held later this week at First Baptist Church in Buford.
Such a wonderful human being my nephew was. Amazing Dad, husband, son, grandson and friend to so many. I’m just so thankful for the memories we shared together over the years and my recent time watching him be such an awesome father to his beautiful first born Amelia. We will miss him so dearly. Go FLY high with Jakeman, Nana and Lance.

Josh T. Cardiello had a personality that could fill any room he stepped into, and a heart made of gold. Kind of ironic that heart gave out on him. He loved life big until the very end. As I laid down to go to bed last night, it hit me that our son Fletch has a father figure with him in heaven now to watch after him. Rest easy Cardiello. #301
